                                GOD HELP US TO HELP OTHERS AS YOU HELP US

This is a time of great weariness upon our hearts and souls. I often think of my Mama, who was just a little girl during the Great Depression. I remember how she use to tell me I could never live through such a time as she did with her family. Perhaps time will prove Mama right.

Her words of sorrow still fill my heart. Her tales of biscuits and water for dinner; walking along the railroad tracks picking up coal to burn for fuel; no shoes to wear at all during the summer; watching her brother die, at home of diphtheria; and sleeping three to a bed in a cold upstairs bedroom. Her tales went on and on and only brought more sadness to me.

As I look around at society and see it, I really don't care too much for "us" right now. I really do not think we have the stamina of my Mama's generation. I pray time proves me wrong.

                      IT IS NOW THE TIME TO WITHDRAW FROM FOOLISH

                          WAYS OF GREEDINESS AND COME TO GRIPS WITH AMERICA'S

                         NEED, OUR NEED!

We absolutely must care for one another, no matter how shy or afraid you might be of humanity. Give it up, do something for humanity rather than yourself.

The best way to start is to talk to God about the mess we are all in together. Get your faith grounded…get on with the work God has planned for you. So, you lose your job, I have a son-in-law that just lost his job. I know the anguish. The furloughs and lay-offs continue each day, the foreclosure rate is soaring, yet the fat cats are still doing great.

We cannot "lobby" those greedy guys to stop; however, we can reach within our own families and neighborhoods to shore up folks. If you have just a bit left over, ask someone you know that is hurting, to come to dinner.

Try to bring some light into someone's life that is downtrodden. Look for any ray of sunshine that might just shine on you and help focus that ray on another.

God did not send this mess, He gave us free will and we really have dropped the ball, but I feel there is hope. Knowing and sharing the knowledge of God’s help in troubled times have to be comforting to those who know Him. Get out there and SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD, GOD IS REAL, and HE WILL HELP!

God never did say this life was just a little stroll down a lovely scented path, did He? Nope, He gave us this thing called "will" and we can choose to use it wisely or throw it away. You had better think about what you are going to do.

What will be your choice? Will you talk to Him, ask for His guidance, and then really listen? Will you get off your sad sack "duff" and get to working on helping others? You may be poor, but there are others poorer.

I urge every one of you to rise up, step up, and go for the "gold."

The gold of love He holds for you! Share that gold, whatever it may be, you have to give. You know folks..time is a fleeting..get with it, I implore you.

We each need to pray unceasingly for growing of faith in this country of ours and fight not only the "evil one" but also, fight the growing mendacity of the human race about what we are and what we are not! We cannot go on deceiving ourselves.

Please, if you are hungry, hurting, and ill or whatever, please, please, do not fear to reach out. We need you and you need us!

May God bless each one of you and may you turn to Him in humble prayer for your life's direction in helping others as well as yourself. May you feel the Holy Spirit about you, comforting you, and may you love and forgive each other in these trying times.
